One of the segments of ag blogs that is perhaps most exciting is the number of college students or young professionals who are finding their voice in talking about agriculture through blogs. And before someone says this MUST MEAN all the other bloggers are old, you are wrong, that’s not what I mean! LOL! I have several I generally keep in mind in this category of blogs too:
- Adventures in Agriculture – this one is by tweep JohnDeereTara and she talks about the behind the scenes world of green equipment.
- Biofortified – This blog is a combination of voices about “stronger plants, stronger science and stronger communications.” To get that, several graduate students and professors blog information about facts and encourage discussion about agriculture with particular focus on plant genetics and biotechnology.
- Celeste Laurent: A Farm Girl’s Perspective — Kentucky ag communications student Celeste Laurent has gotten ahead of the game with internships, freelance work and her own blog. She talks personally on her blog whether its about the impact of a national story on her family’s farm or how ag is related to her upcoming wedding.
- Dairy Innovation — Ashley Messing is a dairy farm girl from the thumb of Michigan. She’s got a great combination of stories about life on the farm, things she’s come across through studies or work, etc. You really should read this one!
- Food for Thought — Students at Kansas State are telling their stories on this blog. Check out the diversity of students! (Look closely and you can find a cotton connection!)
- Environmental Stew — Kelliann Blazek’s new addition to the blog world! She explains it as “Take a piece of land, add a farmer, sprinkle on some livestock or crops, and mix in some conservation practices. What do you get? Environmental Stew(ardship).”
- KellyMRivard – Kelly’s brushed up against agriculture most of her life even if she doesn’t have the typical farm background. That gives her a different perspective. She writes some on agriculture, some on college life and some on other things that go through the mind of a college student interested in design, social media and farming.
- On the Journey… — Mad props to Amanda Sollman on the blog that follows her on her journey through college and toward even more greatness. She rocks as does the blog.
- Shedding Light on Agriculture — I met Daniel online and finally met up in real life. He’s working with fruit trees in the Valley. You can learn a lot from him as he shares thoughts that come to him while he works on his PhD.
- Sitting in the pasture… — This is Ryan’s personal blog (he’s behind Agriculture Proud too). This one talks about the things that occur to him as he’s worked on a feedlot and a ranch.
- The Scientist Gardener — Its pretty much what it sounds like. I really enjoy it.
- 365 Days of Beef – Oprah’s show on veganism got something started. While some of the folks who watched may take a shot at eating a vegan diet, Scott Bennett decided to prove a healthy diet based on beef by eating it for 365 days. He’s a student at Virgina Tech, seems like this could be fun to watch.
- The Wise Owls — Tales from the Ag Ed Classroom — Drew Bender started this blog and has recruited several other ag educators to join his efforts! It walks you through ideas and thoughts teachers have about agricultural education.

Need to add Jesse’s http://pearlsnapsponderings.wordpress.com/
Add this one too! http://ruralroutereview.wordpress.com & http://fromthebleachers18x.blogspot.com
Check out this one by a group of Kansas State University girls. We are all members of Sigma Alpha (a professional agriculture sorority), and post about “Everything Agriculture”
I admire the time and devotion you put into your blog, I would willingly take any advice!

Thanks for the compliment. I’m pretty easy going on sharing what I know. One of the things that I’ve done is participate in a lot of Sunday evening #blogchat sessions and I’ve learned a lot. Last year I taught a few seminars on blogging for the AgChat Foundation. The next training session is in August, if any of you can get time to go to Nashville, for a couple of days, I can assure you it will be worth it (though I’m not sure whether they’ll have me lead a session on blogging or not)! The deadline is soon though so you need to get moving if you are interested. Info is at agchat.org.
Just want to say your blog is kinda awesome. I always like to hear something new about this because I have the similar blog in my Country on this subject so this help′s me a lot. I did a search on the issue and found a good number of blogs but nothing like this. Thanks for sharing so much in your blog..
